Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for AI data engineers?
Intel's campus in Hillsboro is one of Oregon's most active H-1B visa sponsors for technical roles, including AI and data engineering. Nike and Adidas, both with significant tech operations in the Portland metro area, have also sponsored AI-focused data roles. Beyond those names, a number of cloud infrastructure and machine learning startups in Portland have filed LCAs for AI data engineer positions.
Which visa types are most common for AI data engineers in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for AI data engineers in Oregon, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data science, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extensions frequently transition into H-1B sponsorship. Nationals from Australia and Canada may also pursue E-3 visa and TN visas respectively, where the role qualifies.
How to find ai data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters AI data engineer roles in Oregon by visa sponsorship history, so you're not sifting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces companies with documented sponsorship activity, which is especially useful in Oregon where sponsoring employers range from large semiconductor firms like Intel to smaller Portland-area AI startups.
Which cities in Oregon have the most AI data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the majority of AI data engineer sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its established tech sector and the presence of large corporate headquarters. Hillsboro, part of the Portland metro area, is significant on its own given Intel's large footprint there. Beaverton also appears in LCA filings due to Nike's tech operations. Outside the metro area, AI data engineer sponsorship roles are rare.
Are there state-specific factors AI data engineers should know about when pursuing sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon doesn't impose state-level visa requirements, but prevailing wage determinations for AI data engineers in the Portland metro area are set against a competitive market, so employers filing LCAs must offer wages benchmarked to local rates. Oregon State University and Portland State University produce graduates who feed into local data and ML pipelines, which means competition for sponsored roles can be strong among candidates already based in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai data engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
