Which manufacturing companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Oregon?
Oregon's manufacturing sector includes employers with documented STEM OPT hiring histories across semiconductors, aerospace, and industrial equipment. Intel's Hillsboro campuses, Precision Castparts in Portland, FLIR Systems, and Daimler Trucks North America are among the larger manufacturers that have hired in engineering and technical roles. Checking DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data by employer and occupation code helps identify which companies actively file for STEM-related roles.
Which cities in Oregon have the most manufacturing F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
The Portland metro area, including Hillsboro and Beaverton, concentrates the majority of Oregon's advanced manufacturing employment, particularly in semiconductor fabrication and electronics. Salem and Eugene support food processing, wood products, and industrial manufacturing. Medford and Bend have smaller but growing manufacturing presences in specialty metals and precision parts. Hillsboro alone hosts several large Intel fabrication facilities that regularly recruit engineering graduates.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT are tied to STEM-designated degree programs recognized by USCIS, not the job title alone. In manufacturing, positions such as process engineer, manufacturing engineer, quality engineer, industrial engineer, materials scientist, and automation or controls engineer commonly align with qualifying degree fields. The position must use STEM knowledge directly, a role requiring an engineering or applied science degree in a related discipline is the standard employers apply.
How do I find manufacturing F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters manufacturing jobs in Oregon by STEM OPT eligibility, drawing on DOL Labor Condition Application filing data to surface employers with verified sponsorship histories in relevant occupations. You can search by industry, job function, and Oregon location to narrow results to manufacturers actively hiring in engineering and technical roles. Reviewing employer LCA filing records by occupation code also helps confirm which companies have sponsored comparable positions.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT in Oregon's manufacturing sector?
Oregon manufacturing employers who hire STEM OPT students must be enrolled in E-Verify, a federal requirement for the STEM OPT extension. Oregon's semiconductor-heavy industrial base means many roles fall under electrical engineering or computer science degree classifications, which are among the most commonly approved STEM fields. Oregon does not impose additional state-level work authorization requirements beyond federal standards, though employers in defense-adjacent manufacturing may require U.S. person status for certain positions.
