Which companies sponsor visas for project engineers in Oregon?
Intel is one of the most active sponsors in Oregon, with large campuses in Hillsboro that regularly hire project engineers in semiconductor manufacturing and facility construction. Other notable sponsors include Nike, Mortenson, AECOM, and Jacobs Engineering, which support civil, electrical, and construction project engineers. Oregon's growing clean energy sector has also brought in companies like Vestas and Portland General Electric as sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for project engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project engineers in Oregon, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering. Candidates from Canada and Mexico may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA, which applies to engineers and involves a simpler process. Australian nationals may also be eligible for the E-3 visa, which functions similarly to the H-1B but has no lottery.
Which cities in Oregon have the most project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland is by far the largest market for sponsored project engineers in Oregon, driven by Intel's Hillsboro campuses just west of the city, major AEC firms, and Nike's Beaverton headquarters. Salem and Eugene see demand from public infrastructure and university-tied construction projects. Bend is a smaller but growing market, particularly for civil and environmental project engineers tied to regional development.
How to find project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify project engineer roles in Oregon where employers have a documented history of sponsoring. Rather than sorting through general listings, you can focus on roles from Oregon-based engineering, construction, and technology firms that actively file H-1B or other work visa petitions. This saves significant time during a job search.
Are there any Oregon-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for project engineers?
Oregon's concentration of semiconductor and advanced manufacturing employers, particularly in the Hillsboro-Portland corridor, creates one of the more active sponsorship environments for project engineers in the Pacific Northwest. Intel's scale alone means a significant share of Oregon's H-1B filings come from engineering roles. Oregon State University and Portland State University also produce engineering graduates who are familiar to local employers, which can support early-career sponsorship pipelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
