Which companies sponsor visas for quality engineers in Oregon?
Intel is the largest sponsor of quality engineer visas in Oregon, particularly at its Hillsboro campus. Other active sponsors include Precision Castparts, Daimler Trucks North America, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Nike. Oregon's semiconductor and aerospace manufacturing sectors have historically filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for quality engineering roles at higher rates than most other industries in the state.
Which visa types are most common for quality engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for quality engineers in Oregon, particularly for roles requiring specialized knowledge of semiconductor fabrication, metrology, or statistical process control. Quality engineering generally qualifies as a specialty occupation when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a directly related field. TN visas are also an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles.
Which cities in Oregon have the most quality engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Portland metro area, specifically Hillsboro and Beaverton, accounts for the majority of quality engineer sponsorship activity in Oregon due to Intel's large semiconductor campus and the surrounding supplier ecosystem. Portland proper also has a concentration of opportunities in medical devices, aerospace components, and advanced manufacturing. Eugene and Corvallis see smaller but steady demand tied to manufacturing and technology operations near their respective university towns.
How to find quality engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it easier to identify quality engineer roles in Oregon where employers have an established history of sponsoring work visas. Rather than sorting through generic job postings, you can focus on companies in Hillsboro, Portland, and surrounding areas that have already demonstrated willingness to sponsor. Filtering by role and state on Migrate Mate narrows the search considerably.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for quality engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Oregon's Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements apply alongside federal H-1B wage obligations, so employers must meet whichever standard is higher for the relevant occupation and location. The University of Oregon and Oregon State University produce engineering graduates who often enter local manufacturing pipelines, which means some Oregon employers are experienced with OPT-to-H-1B transitions for quality engineering hires. Intel's scale in Hillsboro also means it has a well-established internal immigration sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored quality engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
