Which companies sponsor visas for paralegals in Pennsylvania?
Large law firms with Pennsylvania offices, including Morgan Lewis and Reed Smith in Philadelphia and K&L Gates in Pittsburgh, have histories of sponsoring foreign workers for legal support roles. Corporate legal departments at companies headquartered in Pennsylvania, such as Comcast and AmerisourceBergen, also sponsor paralegals, particularly for specialized roles in litigation, compliance, and intellectual property.
Which visa types are most common for paralegal roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for paralegals in Pennsylvania, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in a related field such as legal studies or a specific subject area relevant to the practice group. Some employers also sponsor paralegals through the EB-3 immigrant visa category for skilled workers, particularly when supporting long-term foreign national employees through permanent residency.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most paralegal sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia accounts for the largest share of paralegal sponsorship opportunities in Pennsylvania, driven by its concentration of AmLaw 100 firms and major corporate headquarters. Pittsburgh is the second most active market, with strong demand from large law firms and energy sector legal teams. Harrisburg sees more limited but steady demand through state government agencies and regulatory-focused legal practices.
How to find paralegal visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Pennsylvania employers actively hiring paralegals who need work authorization. Search by role and state to surface opportunities at law firms and corporate legal departments across Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Focusing on larger employers with established immigration programs generally improves the likelihood of finding sponsored paralegal positions.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for paralegal visa sponsorship?
Pennsylvania paralegals working under H-1B sponsorship must be paid at least the prevailing wage for their specific occupational classification and geographic area, which differs between Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and other regions. Roles within Pennsylvania's significant life sciences and financial services sectors often carry stronger specialty occupation arguments, which matters for H-1B eligibility. Drexel, Temple, and Penn graduates with relevant legal studies backgrounds are common candidates in Philadelphia-area firms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored paralegal jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
