Your opportunity
At Schwab, you are empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together. The Litigation, Enforcement, and Internal Investigations team encompasses several areas, including litigation and arbitrations, regulatory defense, internal investigations, and crisis-type situations. We are recruiting a Legal Support Senior Specialist to join a team of attorneys and professionals who are responsible for litigation and arbitration matters filed against the Company. The position involves directly supporting multiple senior leaders of the Legal Services Department as well as using in-house systems and resources to perform research tasks and provide project support for the team members in Legal Services.
We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration. The selected candidate will work on site in our Westlake, Texas location and in the office at least 4 days a week.
What you’ll do:
- Support: Provide legal and administrative support to attorneys by assisting with case management, legal research, document and case preparation, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external counsel in order to ensure legal matters are handled efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
- Research: Locate electronically stored information (ESI) across the company for handling high-stakes litigation and arbitration matters at the direction of attorneys and other members of the litigation support team.
- Organize: Review, analyze, and prepare ESI, documents and other material for delivery to recipients in litigation and regulatory matters.
- Monitor and manage: Monitor for new legal matters filed against the company and initiate the company’s defenses by using the team’s processes and matter management software; provide administrative help with correspondence, file transfers, trial and hearing exhibits, team calendar management, and internal reporting.
- Collaborate: Support the team by skillfully lending assistance in matters across multiple operating teams.
- Learn: You and the team will work on cutting edge financial and regulatory issues essential to Schwab’s business strategy: our portfolio of matters includes a remarkable variety, including those based in securities law, contract law, employment law, antitrust law, insurance law, intellectual property law, and construction law—just to name a few. And you will continuously expand your knowledge and skills to best advise on issues essential to Schwab’s business strategy.
- Have fun: Culture is important to us! You’ll be joining a terrific team and some of the best professionals in the industry. While this is serious work, none of us take ourselves too seriously.
- Other duties as assigned: IYKYK. And when you’re on a litigation team, you know it’s impossible to capture everything in a simple job description.
What you have
- BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of legal support experience (or a general understanding of legal documents and processes), or familiarity with Schwab’s computer systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat, and comfort with learning new technologies and new technological skills.
- Excellent research and analytical skills, through which you can identify issues and collect, organize, and distill information from multiple sources and systems.
- Strong organizational techniques and attention to detail, where you are agile and manage a diverse set of priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. In other words, you can juggle (metaphorically speaking) while smiling.
- Excellent emotional intelligence and outstanding client relationship management skills. You have a love for service and collaboration with a “can-do” attitude towards solving problems and are a team player. You eagerly seek different views and delight in fresh perspectives.
- Extraordinary interpersonal and communication skills and excellence at communicating information effectively internally and externally, including to non-legal audiences.
- Excellent judgment and comfort making critical decisions under challenging circumstances and compressed timelines. You are confident and decisive, and you believe in excellent work, are efficient, and meet tight deadlines with little supervision.
- A love for challenges and solving problems, taking pride in your work, and finding joy in the process.
- Did we mention joy? Let’s say it again! We love what we do. So should you! Our team is awesome, positive, enthusiastic, and kind. And that makes each workday fun and each matter uniquely interesting.

Which companies sponsor visas for paralegals in Texas?
Large law firms with Texas offices, including Baker McKenzie, Vinson & Elkins, and Haynes and Boone, have histories of sponsoring foreign national paralegals. Corporate legal departments at energy companies like ExxonMobil and Chevron Phillips Chemical, as well as technology firms headquartered in Austin, also sponsor paralegal roles. In-house legal teams at large employers tend to have more established immigration infrastructure than smaller boutique firms.
Which visa types are most common for paralegal roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most frequently used visa category for paralegals in Texas, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as legal studies or paralegal studies. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying paralegal roles. The O-1A is an option for candidates with demonstrable extraordinary ability in their legal specialty.
Which cities in Texas have the most paralegal sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads the state for paralegal sponsorship opportunities, anchored by its concentration of energy-sector corporate legal teams and major law firms. Dallas follows closely, with a strong presence of financial, real estate, and corporate litigation practices. Austin has grown significantly as technology company legal departments have expanded there. San Antonio and Fort Worth offer smaller but active markets, particularly in healthcare and defense-adjacent legal work.
How to find paralegal visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles, including paralegal positions in Texas. You can filter directly by state and role to surface employers who have actively sponsored foreign nationals in the past. This is more targeted than general job searching because it surfaces employers with demonstrated sponsorship patterns, helping you prioritize outreach toward firms with existing immigration infrastructure rather than starting from scratch.
Are there state-specific considerations for paralegals seeking sponsorship in Texas?
Texas does not require paralegals to hold a state license, which removes one barrier for internationally trained candidates, but employers still expect credentials from recognized paralegal programs or a relevant degree. The Texas Workforce Commission determines prevailing wage benchmarks that H-1B sponsors must meet. Houston and Dallas are the dominant hubs for energy and corporate law sponsorships, so candidates with experience in those practice areas may find the path to sponsorship more straightforward.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored paralegal jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
