Which medical devices companies sponsor visas in Puerto Rico?
Major medical devices companies with Puerto Rico operations that sponsor visas include Medtronic (cardiovascular devices), Abbott (diagnostics and medical devices), Boston Scientific (interventional medical solutions), Covidien (surgical instruments), and Johnson & Johnson subsidiary companies. These multinational corporations maintain significant manufacturing and R&D facilities across the island and regularly sponsor H-1B visa, TN visa, and other work visas for qualified professionals.
How to find medical devices visa sponsorship jobs in Puerto Rico?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for medical devices positions in Puerto Rico with visa sponsorship. The platform filters jobs by industry and location, showing which companies actively sponsor work visas. Focus on manufacturing hubs in San Juan, Manatí, and Las Piedras where major medical devices companies operate production facilities and research centers requiring specialized talent from international professionals.
Which cities in Puerto Rico have the most medical devices sponsorship jobs?
San Juan leads with the highest concentration of medical devices visa sponsorship opportunities, followed by Manatí and Las Piedras in the central manufacturing corridor. Aguadilla and Humacao also host significant medical devices operations. These cities benefit from established industrial infrastructure, proximity to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, and tax incentives that attract major medical devices manufacturers requiring specialized international talent.
What visa types are most common for medical devices roles in Puerto Rico?
H-1B visas dominate medical devices sponsorship in Puerto Rico for engineering, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance positions requiring specialized knowledge. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals in similar roles. L-1 visas facilitate transfers within multinational medical devices companies operating both mainland U.S. and Puerto Rico facilities. O-1 visas occasionally apply for professionals with extraordinary ability in medical device innovation or research.
Are prevailing wages different for medical devices jobs in Puerto Rico?
Yes, prevailing wages in Puerto Rico are generally lower than mainland U.S. rates, which can affect H-1B applications requiring minimum wage thresholds. However, major medical devices companies often pay competitive rates to attract specialized talent. The Department of Labor sets specific prevailing wage determinations for Puerto Rico based on local market conditions, and companies must meet these requirements for successful visa sponsorship applications.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical devices jobs in Puerto Rico?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
