Which companies in Tennessee sponsor visas for data science managers?
HCA Healthcare in Nashville, FedEx in Memphis, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Knoxville are among the most active sponsors for data science manager roles in Tennessee. Dollar General and Asurion also hire in this space. These employers have filed H-1B petitions for data-related management positions and have the HR infrastructure to support the sponsorship process.
Which visa types are most commonly used for data science manager roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for data science managers in Tennessee. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as statistics, computer science, or mathematics. Candidates with extraordinary achievement may also explore the O-1A. Those transferring within a multinational company should consider the L-1A for managerial roles.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most data science manager sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads Tennessee for data science manager sponsorship activity, driven by its large healthcare and technology sector. Memphis is a secondary hub, anchored by FedEx's global logistics and data operations. Knoxville and Oak Ridge carry significant weight due to federally funded research institutions, particularly Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which regularly hires senior data professionals and has experience navigating federal visa and security clearance processes.
How to find data science manager visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for data science manager roles in Tennessee without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces employers with active H-1B sponsorship histories in the state, which is particularly useful given that Nashville and Knoxville employers vary significantly in their willingness to sponsor senior data roles.
Are there any state-specific considerations for data science managers pursuing sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects prevailing wage comparisons relative to higher-tax states, though DOL prevailing wage determinations are set independently of state tax policy. The presence of Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Vanderbilt University creates a strong academic-to-industry pipeline, and some employers in the region have experience hiring international researchers transitioning from research roles into commercial data science management positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science manager jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
