Which companies sponsor visas for HR generalists in Tennessee?
Healthcare systems, including HCA Healthcare and Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, have historically filed for HR roles under sponsored visa categories. FedEx and AutoZone in Memphis, along with Volkswagen and Amazon fulfillment operations in Chattanooga, also maintain HR teams large enough to support sponsorship. Larger employers with dedicated immigration counsel are generally the most consistent sponsors for HR generalist positions.
Which visa types are most common for HR generalist roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for HR generalists in Tennessee, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization through a Tennessee university can also work in HR generalist roles while pursuing long-term sponsorship from their employer.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most HR generalist sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads the state by a significant margin, driven by its concentration of healthcare corporations, financial services firms, and growing tech companies. Memphis is a secondary market with strong demand from logistics and distribution employers. Knoxville and Chattanooga offer smaller but active hiring pools, particularly through manufacturing operations and regional healthcare networks that maintain full HR departments.
How to find hr generalist visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters HR generalist jobs in Tennessee specifically by visa sponsorship availability, removing the guesswork of identifying which employers will support your application. Rather than sorting through generic listings, you can focus on roles where sponsorship is already confirmed. Searching by Tennessee city or employer size on Migrate Mate helps narrow results to the opportunities most relevant to your background and visa situation.
Are there state-specific considerations for HR generalists pursuing visa sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects total compensation comparisons but does not change federal visa sponsorship requirements. Employers filing H-1B petitions for HR generalists must still meet Department of Labor prevailing wage obligations based on the specific metro area, so Nashville roles will reflect different wage determinations than positions in Knoxville or rural Tennessee. University of Tennessee and Belmont University alumni networks also serve as pipelines into Tennessee HR hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hr generalist jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
