Which companies sponsor visas for project architects in Texas?
Several large architecture and engineering firms in Texas have established visa sponsorship programs for project architects. Gensler's Houston and Dallas offices, HDR, PageSoutherlandPage, Jacobs Engineering, and Corgan are among the firms with documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories. Larger firms with dedicated HR and legal teams are generally better positioned to manage the sponsorship process than smaller boutique practices.
Which visa types are most common for project architect roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project architects in Texas, as architecture consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in the field. Architects with licensure from countries with TN visa-eligible agreements, such as Canada, may qualify under the TN category. O-1 visas are an option for architects with recognized awards, major published work, or other demonstrated distinction in the field.
Which cities in Texas have the most project architect sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads the state for project architect sponsorship volume, driven by large-scale commercial, healthcare, and energy-sector construction. Dallas-Fort Worth is a close second, with strong demand from corporate campus and mixed-use development projects. Austin has grown significantly as tech-sector office and residential construction has accelerated. San Antonio also offers opportunities, particularly in government and institutional architecture.
How to find project architect visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability, making it more efficient than general job searches for international project architects. You can browse Texas-specific project architect openings directly on Migrate Mate and see which firms are actively hiring. Focusing on firms with prior H-1B filing histories in Texas gives you the most realistic starting point for your search.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for project architects seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas does not require state architectural licensure as a condition of H-1B sponsorship, though NCARB certification and progress toward the AXP program are viewed favorably by employers. The state's lack of a personal income tax is a practical consideration for international architects weighing offers. Texas's high volume of large-scale commercial and healthcare projects means project architects with experience in those sectors tend to attract more sponsorship interest.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project architect jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
