Which companies sponsor visas for project architects in Massachusetts?
Firms with established sponsorship track records for project architects in Massachusetts include Gensler, HOK, Stantec, Perkins&Will, and Elkus Manfredi Architects. Larger engineering and construction management firms such as Jacobs and WSP also sponsor project architects on integrated project teams. Healthcare and higher education clients drive much of the project volume, so firms specializing in those sectors tend to hire internationally with more regularity.
Which visa types are most common for project architects in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project architects in Massachusetts, as architecture consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a professional degree. Candidates with a valid NCARB certification or an accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree are well positioned for H-1B petitions. O-1A visas are pursued by architects with demonstrated recognition, such as design awards or published work. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status under the USMCA professional category for architects.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most project architect sponsorship jobs?
Boston is by far the primary market, anchored by the Seaport District, Longwood Medical Area, and ongoing university campus expansions. Cambridge hosts design studios tied to MIT and the broader life sciences corridor. Worcester and Springfield have smaller but active markets supported by healthcare system capital programs. Firms headquartered in Boston frequently staff projects statewide, so a Boston-based role may involve travel to other Massachusetts cities.
How to find project architect visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse project architect roles in Massachusetts without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform covers architecture and design firms active in Boston and Cambridge, including those working in healthcare, higher education, and mixed-use development. Setting your role and location filters on Migrate Mate surfaces current openings from employers who have sponsored project architects before.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for project architects in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts requires a licensed architect to stamp construction documents, but project architects without a state license can still work under a licensed principal while pursuing licensure. The state's concentration of teaching hospitals, research universities, and life sciences campuses creates sustained demand for architects with experience in technically complex building types, which strengthens the specialty occupation case for H-1B petitions. Prevailing wage levels in the Boston metro are among the highest in the country, reflecting the region's cost of living and competitive hiring market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project architect jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
