Which companies sponsor visas for project architects in Indiana?
Indianapolis-based firms including Ratio Design, CSO Architects, Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf, and RQAW Corporation have appeared in H-1B Labor Condition Application filings for architecture roles. Larger national firms with Indiana offices, such as Populous and Gensler, also sponsor international project architects. Healthcare system campuses and university facilities departments in Indiana occasionally sponsor for senior project architect positions as well.
Which visa types are most common for project architect roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project architects in Indiana, as architecture qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. The O-1A is an option for architects with exceptional recognition in the field. Candidates with a job offer may also explore EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa pathways through employer-sponsored PERM labor certification, though those involve longer timelines.
Which cities in Indiana have the most project architect sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis concentrates the largest share of project architect sponsorship opportunities in Indiana, driven by its commercial development, healthcare infrastructure, and institutional construction activity. Fort Wayne supports a secondary market with regional architecture firms serving manufacturing and civic clients. Bloomington and West Lafayette see demand tied to Indiana University and Purdue University campus projects, where facilities and contracted firms sometimes sponsor international architects.
How to find project architect visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse project architect roles in Indiana without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform aggregates openings from firms that have sponsored H-1B workers in architecture before, making your search more targeted. Setting up alerts for Indiana project architect roles on Migrate Mate ensures you see new sponsorship-eligible listings as they're posted.
What state-specific factors should project architects know about Indiana sponsorship?
Indiana does not impose state-level licensing requirements that affect the H-1B petition itself, but employers will typically expect progress toward AXP completion and ARE passage. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage for architecture roles in the Indianapolis metropolitan area sets the floor for what sponsoring employers must pay. Firms tied to Indiana's growing life sciences and advanced manufacturing construction sectors have shown increasing appetite for internationally trained project architects.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project architect jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
