Which companies sponsor visas for project architects in Florida?
Large architecture and design firms with Florida offices are the most consistent sponsors for project architects. Firms like Gensler, HOK, Perkins&Will, and Stantec have sponsored H-1B visa workers in Florida in past disclosure cycles. Larger construction and development companies with in-house architecture teams, particularly those focused on hospitality and healthcare projects, also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA filings for project architect roles.
Which visa types are most common for project architect roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project architects in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a professional architecture degree. The O-1A is an option for architects with significant awards, publications, or demonstrated distinction in the field. Architects from Canada or Mexico may pursue TN visa status under the USMCA, which lists architecture as a qualifying profession and does not require lottery selection.
How to find project architect visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find project architect visa sponsorship jobs in Florida. The platform filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse Florida openings without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. Searching by firm size and project type helps narrow results to studios most active in Florida's hospitality, residential, and commercial development sectors.
Which cities in Florida have the most project architect sponsorship jobs?
Miami has the highest concentration of project architect sponsorship activity in Florida, driven by large-scale mixed-use, luxury residential, and hospitality development. Orlando follows, with significant demand tied to entertainment, resort, and healthcare construction. Tampa is a growing market, particularly for healthcare system expansion and urban infill projects. Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville also have active architecture firms that have sponsored project architects in recent years.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for project architects seeking visa sponsorship?
Florida does not require state architectural licensure to work as a project architect, but firms often prefer candidates progressing toward licensure through the Architectural Experience Program. Florida's architecture market is heavily influenced by hurricane resilience standards, so experience with high-wind structural coordination can strengthen your candidacy. The University of Miami and Florida International University produce graduates who enter local firms, creating a pipeline that some sponsors draw from when evaluating international hires at similar experience levels.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project architect jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
