Which companies sponsor visas for project architects in Kansas?
Architecture and engineering firms with active Kansas operations are the most consistent sponsors. GLMV Architecture and Gossen Livingston Associates in Wichita have hired internationally, as have the Kansas City-area offices of Burns & McDonnell and HOK. Larger firms handling aviation, healthcare, and infrastructure projects tend to have established HR and legal infrastructure to support H-1B petitions for project architects.
Which visa types are most common for project architect roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project architects in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in architecture. Candidates with a current license may also attract employer interest in O-1A petitions if they have documented professional recognition. Canadian and Mexican nationals in architecture may qualify for TN status under the professional worker category.
Which cities in Kansas have the most project architect sponsorship jobs?
Wichita is the primary market, supported by aerospace and aviation facility construction, healthcare campuses, and a growing commercial sector. Kansas City, Kansas, benefits from cross-border economic activity with Missouri and hosts several regional offices of national architecture and engineering firms. Smaller markets like Overland Park occasionally have openings through corporate campus and municipal building projects.
How to find project architect visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search project architect roles in Kansas without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from architecture and engineering firms already engaged in sponsorship, which is particularly useful in a mid-sized market like Kansas where sponsoring employers are present but less visible than in coastal metros.
Are there any state-specific considerations for project architects seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas requires architectural licensure through the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions for independent practice, but many project architect roles are filled by candidates working toward licensure under a licensed principal. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University produce architecture graduates, creating some local pipeline competition. For H-1B sponsorship, employers must file a Labor Condition Application certifying the offered wage meets the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the Wichita or Kansas City metropolitan area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project architect jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
