Which companies sponsor visas for project directors in Texas?
Energy and engineering firms lead sponsorship activity for project directors in Texas. Companies such as Fluor, Jacobs Engineering, KBR, and ExxonMobil in Houston regularly file H-1B petitions for senior project management roles. In Dallas-Fort Worth, major technology employers including AT&T, Lockheed Martin, and CBRE have also sponsored project directors. Construction and infrastructure firms with active Texas operations are another consistent source of sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for project director roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project directors in Texas, given that most employers classify the role as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. L-1A visas are an option for project directors transferring within a multinational company. TN visas cover Canadian and Mexican nationals in certain management roles. O-1 visas apply in rare cases where exceptional achievement can be demonstrated.
Which cities in Texas have the most project director sponsorship jobs?
Houston generates the highest volume of project director sponsorship opportunities, driven by its concentration of energy, petrochemical, and engineering firms. Dallas-Fort Worth follows closely, with demand from technology, defense, and real estate development employers. Austin has seen growing demand tied to semiconductor manufacturing and infrastructure expansion, including large-scale projects linked to companies like Samsung and Tesla. San Antonio also has activity in defense contracting and healthcare construction.
How to find project director visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find project director visa sponsorship jobs in Texas, since listings are filtered specifically for roles where employers are open to sponsoring work visas. Searching by the project director role category and filtering to Texas surfaces relevant openings across Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Austin. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on sponsorship-ready roles, which saves significant time compared to screening general job listings manually.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for project directors seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since the Department of Labor sets H-1B wage floors based on local market data by metropolitan area. Houston, Dallas, and Austin each have separate wage determinations, and project director roles in energy-heavy Houston corridors often reflect specialized market rates. Texas also has a strong pipeline of international engineering talent from universities such as UT Austin, Texas A&M, and Rice, meaning employers in the state are generally familiar with sponsorship processes for this role type.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project director jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
