Which companies sponsor visas for technical project managers in Texas?
Several large Texas-based employers have well-documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories for technical project managers, including Dell Technologies in Round Rock, AT&T and Texas Instruments in Dallas, and Amazon Web Services infrastructure teams in Austin. Energy companies like ExxonMobil and Chevron Phillips Chemical in Houston also sponsor the role. Consulting firms with large Texas offices, such as Cognizant, Infosys, and Capgemini, are among the most active sponsors statewide.
Which visa types are most common for technical project manager roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for technical project managers in Texas, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. L-1B visas are also used when candidates transfer from an overseas office of the same employer. Applicants with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the USMCA professional worker categories.
Which cities in Texas have the most technical project manager sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads the state for technical project manager sponsorship activity, driven by a dense cluster of technology companies and fast-scaling startups. Dallas-Fort Worth is close behind, anchored by AT&T, Lockheed Martin, and a large consulting presence. Houston adds significant volume through energy sector employers and healthcare IT firms. San Antonio has a growing cybersecurity and defense technology sector that also produces sponsorship opportunities for the role.
How to find technical project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse technical project manager openings across Texas without sifting through roles that do not offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by city, such as Austin, Dallas, or Houston, to focus on the markets most active for this role. Migrate Mate also surfaces employer sponsorship history, which helps you prioritize companies with a track record of filing for technical project managers in Texas.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for technical project managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since the Department of Labor sets H-1B wage requirements based on local market rates rather than take-home pay. Austin's rapid salary growth in recent years means prevailing wage floors for technical project managers there are now comparable to many coastal markets. Texas universities including UT Austin and Texas A&M produce a significant share of OPT candidates who pursue sponsorship in this role, so employers in the state are generally familiar with the transition process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical project manager jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
