Which companies in South Carolina sponsor visas for technical project managers?
Established South Carolina employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories include Bosch, BMW Manufacturing, Michelin North America, and Sonoco. In the tech and healthcare space, MUSC Health, Benefitfocus, and Blackbaud have sponsored technical project managers. Defense contractors with operations around Charleston and Columbia, such as Leidos and General Dynamics, also sponsor for project management roles tied to complex technical programs.
Which visa types are most common for technical project manager roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for technical project managers in South Carolina, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in a field like computer science, engineering, or information systems, meeting the specialty occupation standard. L-1B visas are also used when candidates transfer internally from a multinational employer's foreign office. O-1A visas apply in rare cases where a candidate has demonstrated extraordinary achievement in the field.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most technical project manager sponsorship jobs?
Charleston leads for technical project manager sponsorship activity, driven by defense, technology, and healthcare employers concentrated in the metro area. Columbia follows, anchored by state government IT initiatives, Palmetto Health, and university-affiliated tech operations. Greenville and Spartanburg form a secondary hub where automotive and advanced manufacturing companies, including BMW and Michelin, regularly hire technical project managers to oversee plant and process technology projects.
How to find technical project manager visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters technical project manager roles in South Carolina by visa sponsorship availability, so you are not sorting through listings from employers unwilling to sponsor. The platform surfaces roles from companies with verified H-1B filing histories in the state. Searching by role and location on Migrate Mate is a more targeted starting point than general job boards for candidates who need an employer to file a visa petition.
Are there state-specific considerations for technical project managers seeking visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's manufacturing base means many technical project manager roles sit at the intersection of engineering and IT, which can strengthen a specialty occupation argument for H-1B purposes since the position requires specific technical knowledge tied to a defined field of study. The state has no dedicated foreign worker recruitment program, so candidates depend entirely on employer-initiated federal petitions. University pipelines through Clemson and the University of South Carolina produce technology talent that employers in Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston draw from, making those corridors particularly active for sponsorship hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical project manager jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
