Which companies sponsor visas for technical project managers in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle is home to several consistent H-1B sponsors for technical project managers. Cisco, IBM, Red Hat, and SAS Institute have sponsored TPM roles in the Raleigh-Durham area. In Charlotte, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and LendingTree sponsor technical project management positions tied to large-scale technology and infrastructure programs. Defense contractors near Fayetteville also file periodic sponsorships for program and project management roles.
Which visa types are most common for technical project manager roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical project managers in North Carolina. These roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering. The L-1B intracompany transferee visa is also used when candidates move from an overseas office to a North Carolina employer location, particularly at large multinationals like IBM or Cisco.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most technical project manager sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and Durham, anchored by Research Triangle Park, account for the largest share of technical project manager sponsorship activity in the state. Charlotte follows closely, driven by its financial services and technology sectors. Smaller concentrations exist in Cary, Chapel Hill, and Morrisville, where mid-size software and life sciences companies maintain engineering and project management teams that occasionally sponsor international candidates.
How to find technical project manager visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search technical project manager roles in North Carolina without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. The platform surfaces employers actively filing H-1B petitions for TPM and related titles. Filtering by the Research Triangle or Charlotte metro on Migrate Mate narrows results to the highest-density sponsorship markets in the state.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for technical project managers in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle Park concentration means many employers are large multinationals already familiar with H-1B sponsorship processes, which lowers friction compared to smaller or more regionally isolated markets. The region's university pipeline from NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and Duke also means employers are accustomed to hiring OPT workers and converting them to H-1B status, making TPM roles in this corridor comparatively accessible for international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical project manager jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
