- Develop and validate business cases with measurable benefit, influencing and interacting with multiple business cross-functional stakeholders, vendors, and internal operations and engineering teams
- Collaborate with shared services teams, including security and audit, to ensure alignment and integration of standards within all program initiatives and management of cross-functional dependencies
- Translate engineering strategy and technical requirements into a comprehensive and engaging Walking Deck, fostering a shared understanding of program goals and outcomes among all stakeholders

Basic Requirements:
- 8+ years of project management experience in a role demonstrating strong technical, operational, and analytical skills

- Experience creating user stories, personas, and or journey maps for both end users and internal stakeholders, and evaluating finished products on satisfying them
- Extensive experience in Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence, leveraging them to manage projects and facilitate collaboration among teams

- Technical knowledge. Able to contribute to technical design discussions
- Comfortable working with all levels of the organization including senior executives
- Proven ability to influence seniors and peers without direct authority; experience leading cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders

Which companies sponsor visas for technical project managers in New York?
Financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup are among the most active sponsors in New York, alongside technology firms such as IBM, Google, and Amazon. Healthcare systems including NYU Langone and Mount Sinai also sponsor technical project managers for IT modernization and systems implementation work. Consulting firms like Deloitte and Accenture with large New York offices sponsor regularly as well.
Which visa types are most common for technical project manager roles in New York?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for technical project managers in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field such as computer science, engineering, or information systems. Australian citizens may also qualify under the E-3 visa. Candidates already holding L-1B intracompany transferee status sometimes move into technical project manager roles within multinational firms headquartered in New York.
Which cities in New York have the most technical project manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the overwhelming majority of technical project manager sponsorship positions in the state, driven by its concentration of financial services, media, and enterprise technology employers in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Are there any state-specific considerations for technical project managers seeking visa sponsorship in New York?
New York's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are set at levels reflecting the high cost of living, particularly in New York City. Employers must certify wages through a Labor Condition Application before sponsoring. New York's dense university pipeline, including Columbia, Cornell Tech, and NYU, means competition for sponsorship roles is high. Candidates with demonstrated experience managing software implementations or infrastructure programs tend to be stronger applicants in this market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical project manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
