Which companies sponsor visas for technical project managers in Kansas?
Kansas-based employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for technical roles include Garmin International in Olathe, Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in the Kansas City metro, and Sprint (now T-Mobile) legacy operations in Overland Park. Larger financial services firms and defense contractors operating in the state also sponsor technical project managers, though sponsorship decisions are made case by case.
Which visa types are most common for technical project manager roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for technical project manager positions in Kansas, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. Candidates already holding L-1B or L-1A status through an intracompany transfer are also placed into technical project manager roles at multinationals with Kansas offices, particularly in the aerospace and technology sectors.
How to find technical project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, making it straightforward to find technical project manager openings in Kansas without sorting through roles that won't consider international candidates. You can narrow results to Kansas cities like Overland Park, Wichita, and Lenexa, where technology and engineering employers concentrate their hiring. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active sponsorship histories for this role type.
Which cities in Kansas have the most technical project manager sponsorship jobs?
Overland Park and Lenexa in the Kansas City metro account for the largest share of technical project manager sponsorship activity in Kansas, driven by fintech, telecommunications, and IT services employers clustered in Johnson County. Wichita is the secondary market, supported by aerospace and defense firms. Lawrence also has a smaller pipeline through its university-affiliated research and technology sector.
Are there state-specific considerations for technical project manager visa sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas employers sponsoring H-1B workers for technical project manager roles must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for that occupation in the relevant metropolitan area, which differs between the Wichita and Kansas City metro designations. Johnson County's proximity to Missouri means some employers operate across the state line, so confirming the actual work location matters for prevailing wage compliance. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University also supply OPT candidates who may later seek H-1B sponsorship in technical roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical project manager jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
