Which companies sponsor visas for IT support roles in Utah?
Established tech employers in Utah with documented H-1B sponsorship histories include Qualtrics, Adobe's Lehi office, Pluralsight, and large healthcare organizations like Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health. State and federal government contractors operating along the Wasatch Front also sponsor IT support roles, particularly for help desk, systems administration, and end-user support positions requiring specialized technical qualifications.
Which visa types are most common for IT support jobs in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT support roles in Utah, though it requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a specific bachelor's degree in a relevant field like computer science or information systems is typically required. Some IT support roles are structured at a senior or systems-level that meets this threshold. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals for qualifying technical positions.
Which cities in Utah have the most IT support sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and the Silicon Slopes corridor, spanning Lehi, Provo, and Draper, account for the largest share of IT support sponsorship opportunities in Utah. This corridor hosts a dense concentration of mid-size SaaS companies, fintech firms, and enterprise software employers. Ogden and St. George see smaller volumes but have growing tech footprints driven by remote operations centers and regional healthcare IT departments.

Roles at larger companies with established HR infrastructure are generally more likely to support sponsorship.
Are there any Utah-specific considerations for IT support visa sponsorship?
Utah's university pipeline, particularly from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University, produces a steady supply of domestic IT graduates, which means competition for entry-level sponsored roles can be significant. IT support positions that involve managing enterprise infrastructure, security systems, or specialized platforms are more likely to meet H-1B specialty occupation requirements than general help desk roles. Employers in the Silicon Slopes area tend to have more experience navigating sponsorship than smaller regional businesses.

U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
