Which companies sponsor visas for structural project engineers in Utah?
Engineering consultancies and design-build firms are the most active sponsors for structural project engineers in Utah. Firms such as KPFF Consulting Engineers, Reaveley Engineers, BHB Structural Engineers, and Terracon Consultants have sponsored H-1B workers in structural and civil engineering disciplines. Larger national firms with Utah offices, including Stantec and WSP, also have established immigration support infrastructure and sponsor engineers across project types.
Which visa types are most common for structural project engineer roles in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa for structural project engineers in Utah, as the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Engineers from Canada or Mexico may qualify under the TN visa's engineer category without entering the H-1B lottery. Australian citizens may be eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is available year-round.
Which cities in Utah have the most structural project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City accounts for the largest share of structural project engineer sponsorship activity in Utah, home to the state's deepest concentration of engineering firms and major construction projects. Provo and Orem also generate consistent demand, partly driven by growth near Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University. St. George is an emerging market as Southern Utah's residential and commercial construction expands steadily.
How to find structural project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify structural project engineer openings in Utah without sifting through roles that don't offer immigration support. You can search by state and job title to surface firms actively hiring sponsored engineers in markets like Salt Lake City and Provo. Migrate Mate's listings are focused on international candidates who need employer-sponsored visa pathways.
Are there any Utah-specific considerations for structural project engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Utah's engineering market benefits from a strong pipeline of graduates from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University, which means sponsored roles tend to go to candidates with specialized experience, such as seismic design knowledge relevant to Utah's earthquake risk zones. Employers filing H-1B petitions must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the Salt Lake City or Provo metro areas, which are tracked separately and reflect local engineering market rates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored structural project engineer jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
