Which companies sponsor visas for structural project engineers in Kansas?
The most active sponsors for structural project engineers in Kansas include Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation in Wichita, where aerospace structural work drives significant hiring. Engineering consulting firms such as MKEC Engineering, Terracon, and Black & Veatch also have Kansas footprints and documented H-1B sponsorship histories. Large national contractors with Kansas City offices, including Burns & McDonnell, have sponsored structural engineering roles as well.
Which visa types are most common for structural project engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for structural project engineers in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship pursue TN visas under the engineer category, which allows faster processing. Employers in Kansas's aerospace sector occasionally also support O-1 visas for engineers with exceptional credentials.
Which cities in Kansas have the most structural project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Wichita accounts for the largest share of structural project engineer sponsorship jobs in Kansas, driven by its aerospace and aviation manufacturing industry, which demands continuous structural analysis and project engineering work. Kansas City (on the Kansas side) is the second most active market, with infrastructure, commercial construction, and industrial projects generating demand. Topeka and Lawrence see smaller but steady hiring, often tied to state infrastructure and university-affiliated projects.
How to find structural project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find structural project engineer visa sponsorship jobs specifically in Kansas, with listings filtered by role and state so you're not sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Focusing your search on Wichita's aerospace employers and Kansas City's engineering consultancies gives you the strongest starting point. Migrate Mate's job board surfaces employers with active H-1B sponsorship histories, which is particularly useful for narrowing down serious sponsors in this field.
Are there state-specific or role-specific considerations for structural project engineers seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not impose additional state-level licensing requirements beyond the national Professional Engineer (PE) credential for structural project engineers, but employers in Wichita's aerospace sector often require familiarity with FAA structural standards alongside civil engineering expertise. The state's relatively lower cost of living compared to coastal markets means prevailing wage requirements may differ from national averages, which affects how employers structure H-1B petitions. University of Kansas and Kansas State University produce local engineering pipelines that some firms prioritize before sponsoring international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored structural project engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
