Which companies sponsor visas for structural project engineers in Colorado?
Large engineering and construction firms with established Colorado offices are the most consistent H-1B visa sponsors for structural project engineers. AECOM, Jacobs, HDR, Burns & McDonnell, and Stantec have all filed Labor Condition Applications for structural engineering roles in Colorado. Smaller regional firms occasionally sponsor too, but multi-office national firms typically have the internal legal infrastructure to manage sponsorship more reliably.
Which visa types are most common for structural project engineer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for structural project engineers in Colorado, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in civil or structural engineering. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may also be eligible for TN visa status under the engineer category, which offers a simpler process without a lottery. Employers generally initiate the H-1B process, so sponsorship willingness is the primary variable.
Which cities in Colorado have the most structural project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of structural project engineer sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by its concentration of large engineering firm offices and major infrastructure programs. Colorado Springs and Boulder also see consistent hiring, particularly for defense-adjacent infrastructure and university-linked research projects. Fort Collins has a smaller but active market connected to Colorado State University engineering networks and regional municipal work.
How to find structural project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to find structural project engineer positions in Colorado without sorting through hundreds of unsponsored postings. You can browse by state and role type to surface openings from engineering firms actively hiring international candidates. Checking regularly matters, as sponsorship-eligible openings in Colorado's infrastructure sector move quickly.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for structural project engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Colorado's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are benchmarked to Denver and Front Range metropolitan areas, which tend to reflect competitive rates for licensed structural engineers. Colorado does not require a Professional Engineer license to hold the title of structural project engineer, but advancing to independent project sign-off typically requires PE licensure, which can affect role classification on an LCA. International candidates with degrees from accredited programs generally meet USCIS specialty occupation standards for this role.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored structural project engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
