Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Which energy companies in Utah sponsor TN visas?
PacifiCorp, which operates Rocky Mountain Power in Utah, and Dominion Energy Utah are among the larger utilities known to hire international professionals in technical roles. Midstream and upstream operators with Uinta Basin operations also hire for engineering and geoscience positions. TN sponsorship requires a qualifying job offer, so hiring patterns vary by role and business need at the time of your application.
Which cities in Utah have the most energy TN sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City is the primary hub, housing corporate offices for major utilities and energy services firms. Vernal, in the Uinta Basin, concentrates upstream oil and gas activity including field engineering and geology roles. Provo and Ogden also see hiring from energy companies with regional operations. Most TN-eligible technical and professional roles are concentrated in Salt Lake City for office-based positions.
What types of energy roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN status covers specific professional categories, and common energy roles that align with those categories include petroleum engineers, chemical engineers, civil engineers, geologists, geophysicists, and environmental scientists. The role must require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher and fall within an approved TN occupation. Roles like general project coordinators or field technicians that don't require a specific professional degree typically do not qualify.
How do I find energy TN sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for this search, letting you filter for TN-eligible energy jobs in Utah without sorting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. Because TN sponsorship depends on the role matching an approved occupational category, Migrate Mate's filters help you focus on positions in engineering, geoscience, and environmental science where Utah energy employers are actively hiring international candidates.
Are there any Utah-specific or energy industry considerations for TN sponsorship?
Utah's energy mix includes regulated utilities, coal operations, natural gas infrastructure, and a growing renewable sector, which means TN-eligible roles span multiple engineering disciplines. One practical consideration is that Utah's oil and gas activity in the Uinta Basin often involves remote or field-based work, and some positions require site presence that affects relocation planning. Canadians can apply for TN status at a port of entry, while Mexican nationals apply through a U.S. consulate.
