General Description:
NOVA Workforce Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Teaching may include a variety of formats: face-to-face, remote and online. The teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantees of continued employment.
Duties and Tasks:
Provide hands-on, guided, differentiated instructions to students enrolled in the courses, as specified in the schedule and course contract.
Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
Conduct efficient and effective classroom management.
Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the institution, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
Use the institution’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, and other materials and to communicate with students, in a timely manner.
Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles and provide interesting and engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
Maintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades, and submit class rosters and grade sheets by the deadlines established by the department.
Maintain a hazard-free environment and practice safety in lab(s) or classroom.
Adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with college and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.
As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.

National Electrical Code (NEC) – Working knowledge of NEC standards, code compliance, and local electrical regulations related to installation, grounding, and protection.
Blueprints and Schematics – Ability to read, interpret, and explain electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and one-line schematics.
Safety Procedures and Compliance – Understanding of OSHA 10/30 safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements specific to electrical environments.
Hands-On Demonstration – Skill in demonstrating electrical techniques safely, including wiring, conduit bending, and circuit assembly.
Instructional Delivery – Ability to teach hands-on technical content clearly and effectively to diverse learners.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics – Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and correcting mechanical and electrical faults.
