Which companies sponsor visas for operations supervisors in Virginia?
Federal contractors and defense firms are among the most active sponsors for operations supervisor roles in Virginia. Companies like Leidos, Booz Allen Hamilton, SAIC, ManTech, and General Dynamics IT have filed H-1B visa Labor Condition Applications for operations and program management positions. Large logistics and tech employers including Amazon and Northrop Grumman also sponsor operations supervisors, particularly in Northern Virginia and the broader Washington, D.C. metro region.
Which visa types are most common for operations supervisor roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for operations supervisors in Virginia, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business, industrial engineering, or supply chain management. The L-1A intracompany transferee visa is another path for candidates moving into supervisory roles within a multinational company. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose roles fit qualifying management or engineering categories.
Which cities in Virginia have the most operations supervisor sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly the Tysons Corner, Herndon, Reston, and Arlington submarkets, concentrates the highest volume of sponsored operations supervisor positions, driven by the dense cluster of federal contractors and technology firms. Richmond sees demand in manufacturing, distribution, and healthcare operations. Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads have openings tied to defense logistics and port operations. Chantilly and Fairfax County also appear frequently in H-1B LCA filings for operations roles.
How to find operations supervisor visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse operations supervisor openings in Virginia without sorting through roles that don't sponsor. You can filter by location to focus on Northern Virginia's federal contracting hub or Richmond's logistics sector. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified sponsorship histories, which saves time when targeting companies that have filed H-1B petitions for operations and management roles in the state.
What should international candidates know about operations supervisor roles in Virginia before applying?
Many operations supervisor positions in Northern Virginia support federal government contracts, which can require security clearances. Clearance eligibility is generally limited to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, so international candidates on nonimmigrant visas may find clearance-required roles inaccessible. Focusing on commercial operations roles in logistics, technology, or healthcare avoids this barrier. Virginia's proximity to federal agencies also means employers are familiar with sponsorship processes, though each company's willingness varies considerably by role and business unit.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored operations supervisor jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
