Which companies sponsor visas for product engineering managers in Virginia?
Northern Virginia's concentration of defense technology and cloud infrastructure companies makes it a consistent source of sponsorship activity for product engineering managers. Amazon Web Services in Arlington, Capital One in McLean, Leidos and Booz Allen Hamilton in the greater D.C. corridor, and Verint, SAIC, and DXC Technology are among employers with documented H-1B visa filing histories for engineering management roles in the state.
Which visa types are most common for product engineering manager roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for product engineering managers in Virginia, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or a related field. L-1A intraviewer transfers are also used when candidates are relocating from a foreign office of the same employer. O-1A petitions appear occasionally for candidates with exceptional records.
Which cities in Virginia have the most product engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia dominates, with Arlington, McLean, Reston, and Herndon accounting for the majority of sponsorship activity. This corridor hosts headquarters or major offices for AWS, Capital One, Booz Allen Hamilton, and dozens of defense contractors. Richmond has a smaller but growing technology presence, particularly in fintech and healthcare IT, while the Virginia Beach area sees some sponsorship through government and defense sector employers.
How to find product engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search for product engineering manager openings in Virginia without manually screening out employers that don't sponsor. You can narrow results by location within the state, which is useful given how concentrated sponsorship activity is in Northern Virginia. Migrate Mate pulls from employers with documented sponsorship histories, saving time in the application process.
Are there any state-specific considerations for product engineering manager candidates seeking sponsorship in Virginia?
Virginia's proximity to federal agencies means many product engineering manager roles require security clearances, which can complicate sponsorship for non-citizens since clearance eligibility is generally restricted to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. Candidates on H-1B or other nonimmigrant visas should confirm clearance requirements before applying. Virginia also sits within DOL's Washington-Baltimore-Arlington wage region, which tends to reflect prevailing wage requirements at the higher end of the national scale for this role.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product engineering manager jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
