Which companies sponsor visas for product managers in Virginia?
Northern Virginia's technology and defense contracting sectors generate the most product manager sponsorship activity in the state. Amazon Web Services (based in Arlington), Capital One, Leidos, Booz Allen Hamilton, General Dynamics IT, and Freddie Mac have all filed H-1B visa petitions for product manager roles in recent years. Cleared-role positions at defense contractors often require U.S. citizenship, so international candidates typically focus on commercial technology and financial services employers.
Which visa types are most common for product manager roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for product managers in Virginia, requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or business. Candidates already holding L-1B (intracompany transferee, specialized knowledge) status through a multinational employer also fill product manager roles in Virginia. Those with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1A, though the evidentiary bar is significantly higher than for the H-1B.
How to find product manager visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, which saves product manager candidates from applying to roles where sponsorship is unavailable. For Virginia, the most productive search is filtering by Northern Virginia or the D.C. metro area and selecting product manager as the role category. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with a documented history of sponsoring product managers, so candidates can focus their applications where sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
Which cities in Virginia have the most product manager sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly Arlington, McLean, Reston, and Herndon, accounts for the overwhelming majority of product manager sponsorship activity in the state. This corridor hosts Amazon's HQ2, a high concentration of defense technology contractors, and the headquarters of several major financial services firms. Richmond has a smaller but growing product management market, primarily driven by Capital One and financial technology companies. Remote-hybrid roles anchored to a Virginia office also recruit nationally.
Are there state-specific considerations for product manager sponsorship in Virginia?
Virginia's heavy concentration of federal contractors introduces a complication not present in most other states: many product manager roles require security clearances, which are effectively unavailable to non-U.S. citizens and most non-permanent residents. International candidates should confirm a role is on the commercial or unclassified side before applying. Virginia also feeds from strong regional university pipelines at George Mason University and Virginia Tech, which means competition for sponsored product manager roles tends to be significant.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product manager jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
