Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of Kenworth’s heavy-duty truck chassis within the Core Chassis Group.
- Collaborate with Paccar factories to implement innovative solutions addressing production issues identified by the Liaison Engineering team and Applications and Release Teams.
- Support new product development, warranty, and cost reduction initiatives through effective cross-functional collaboration to select and validate designs.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and external suppliers to design, validate, and implement purchased components, ensuring quality and cost objectives are met.
- Enhance and streamline order processing by updating and maintaining the Paccar proprietary “Frame Design” rules engine software.
- Travel up to 10% as required.
Work under the guidance of senior engineers to develop technical skills and deepen industry knowledge.
Skills / Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or technical field required.
- 3-5+ years of experience required in the specification and design of complex automotive components.
- Competence in desktop applications such as MS Office and CAD software.
- Familiar with project management and Six Sigma tools.
- Experience in logic trees and rules engine software a plus.
- Demonstrates strong curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new mechanical design systems and solving complex engineering problems.
- Open to receiving and acting on feedback with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Additional Job Board Information

The salary range for the Mechanical Design Engineer - Chassis/Frame is $90,400 - $141,800 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
