Which technology companies sponsor Green Card visas in Washington?
Microsoft and Amazon are among the most active Green Card sponsors in Washington, with well-established internal immigration teams processing high volumes of employment-based petitions annually. Other consistent sponsors include Google, Meta, Salesforce, and Boeing, all with significant Washington presences. Mid-size technology companies and enterprise software firms in the Seattle and Bellevue area also sponsor, though the volume and process maturity vary by employer.
Which cities in Washington have the most technology Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Redmond account for the overwhelming majority of technology Green Card sponsorship activity in Washington. Seattle's South Lake Union and Capitol Hill tech corridors host Amazon, Google, and numerous mid-size firms. Redmond is anchored by Microsoft's global headquarters. Bellevue has grown substantially as a secondary tech hub, with companies like Expedia and T-Mobile headquartered there alongside many mid-market software employers.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Washington?
Software engineering, machine learning, data science, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and product management roles are among the most commonly sponsored positions in Washington's technology sector. These roles typically qualify under EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories, with some senior researchers and specialists pursuing EB-1B or EB-2 NIW pathways. Roles requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field generally fit the specialty occupation standard employers use to support petitions.
How do I find technology Green Card sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter technology jobs in Washington by Green Card sponsorship so you're only seeing employers actively willing to support the process. Washington's technology sector is large, but not every company that hires internationally will sponsor Green Cards, making a filtered search far more efficient than sorting through general job listings. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers with documented sponsorship history in the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for pursuing Green Card sponsorship in Washington's technology sector?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons but not the Green Card process itself. The high concentration of large tech employers in the state means many Washington-based roles involve PERM labor certification, where employers must demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available before sponsoring a foreign national. Wait times under employment-based categories depend on your country of birth, not where you work in the U.S., so Indian and Chinese nationals face the same backlogs regardless of working in Washington.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card technology jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
