This role is based out of Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
- Own the full lifecycle of complex material flow and process equipment, from concept development and detailed engineering design through commissioning and production handover.
- Design, deploy, and specify fully automated material handling solutions (AGV, AMR, VRC, ASRS, conveyors, robotics), ensuring compliance with factory layout, safety, and ergonomic standards.
- Develop system architecture, capacity, and throughput models, utilizing Discrete Event Simulation (DES) tools like FlexSim to validate technical feasibility and optimize CAPEX/OPEX.
- Lead end-to-end program management, including scope definition, RFQ development, vendor selection, budget oversight, schedule tracking, and rigorous FAT/SAT testing.
- Define and standardize fleet management, path optimization, and traffic control strategies for AGV/AMR systems to ensure robust and scalable automation.

Which companies sponsor visas for industrial engineers in West Virginia?
Manufacturing and chemical processing employers have the strongest sponsorship track record in West Virginia. Companies like Appvion Operations, Bayer CropScience, and facilities operated by international conglomerates in the Kanawha Valley have filed H-1B petitions for engineering roles. Defense contractors near Morgantown and energy sector employers also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for industrial engineer positions.
Which visa types are most common for industrial engineer roles in West Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa for industrial engineers in West Virginia, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering. Canadian and Mexican citizens may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA-successor agreement. Engineers with exceptional records may explore the O-1A, though it requires substantial documented achievement.
Which cities in West Virginia have the most industrial engineer sponsorship jobs?
Charleston and the Kanawha Valley corridor concentrate the largest share of industrial engineering roles, driven by chemical manufacturing and energy infrastructure. Huntington supports manufacturing and logistics engineering tied to Ohio River commerce. Morgantown, home to West Virginia University, attracts research-adjacent engineering roles and has seen sponsorship activity from defense and advanced manufacturing employers operating near the university's engineering programs.
How to find industrial engineer visa sponsorship jobs in West Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to employers who sponsor work visas, making it easier to identify industrial engineer openings in West Virginia without sifting through roles at companies unwilling to sponsor. You can search by role and state to surface positions in manufacturing, chemical processing, and energy sectors across Charleston, Huntington, and Morgantown where sponsorship activity is most concentrated.
Are there state-specific considerations for industrial engineers seeking visa sponsorship in West Virginia?
West Virginia's industrial base skews toward legacy manufacturing, chemicals, and energy, meaning many employers are mid-size or subsidiary operations of larger corporations. Subsidiaries of multinational firms often have established immigration processes and are more likely to sponsor than small independent manufacturers. West Virginia University's industrial and systems engineering program also creates a pipeline that some local employers actively recruit from, which can signal openness to sponsoring international graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored industrial engineer jobs in West Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
