Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for AI data engineers?
Epic Systems in Verona is one of the most active Wisconsin sponsors for engineering and data roles. Exact Sciences, Rockwell Automation, Northwestern Mutual, and American Family Insurance have also filed H-1B petitions for data and AI engineering positions. Larger employers with dedicated engineering teams tend to have established sponsorship processes, while smaller startups vary considerably in their willingness and capacity to sponsor.
Which visa types are most common for AI data engineer roles in Wisconsin?
H-1B is the most common visa for AI data engineers in Wisconsin, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data science, or a related field. O-1A visas are an option for candidates with documented exceptional ability. International students on OPT or STEM OPT also frequently fill AI data engineer roles while seeking H-1B sponsorship from their employers.
How to find ai data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search AI data engineer roles in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. Given that Wisconsin's sponsoring employers are concentrated in healthcare tech, insurance, and industrial automation, filtering by those industries on Migrate Mate helps narrow results to companies with a track record of sponsoring engineering roles in this state.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most AI data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Madison and its surrounding suburbs, particularly Verona where Epic Systems is headquartered, account for a significant share of AI data engineering roles in the state. Milwaukee follows, driven by financial services firms, healthcare systems, and manufacturing technology companies. The Fox Valley region, home to several industrial automation employers, also generates demand for data engineering talent, though at lower volume than Madison or Milwaukee.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for AI data engineers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Wisconsin's sponsoring employers are heavily concentrated in healthcare IT, insurance, and industrial manufacturing, so AI data engineers with domain experience in those sectors are better positioned than generalists. The University of Wisconsin-Madison produces a steady pipeline of data science graduates, which means competition for local sponsoring roles is meaningful. Employers filing H-1B petitions must pay prevailing wages determined by the Department of Labor for the specific role and geographic area, so compensation expectations should reflect Madison or Milwaukee market rates rather than national averages.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai data engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
