Which companies sponsor visas for AI data engineers in Kansas?
Kansas City-area employers have the strongest sponsorship track record for AI data engineers in Kansas. Oracle Health (formerly Cerner), Garmin, T-Mobile's Sprint operations, and Evergy have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for data and AI roles. Wichita-based aerospace firms like Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation increasingly hire for data engineering positions as they modernize operations with AI-driven tooling.
Which visa types are most common for AI data engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for AI data engineers in Kansas, as these roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data science, or a related field. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT work authorization are also actively hired, since that allows employment before H-1B sponsorship is initiated. The O-1A is an option for engineers with demonstrated exceptional achievement.
Which cities in Kansas have the most AI data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Kansas City (including Overland Park and Lenexa on the Kansas side) is by far the strongest market for AI data engineer sponsorship jobs in the state, driven by its established tech and healthcare IT sectors. Wichita is a secondary market with growth in aerospace and manufacturing data roles. Lawrence has a smaller but active presence tied to the University of Kansas research ecosystem.
How to find ai data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search AI data engineer roles in Kansas without sifting through postings that won't support international candidates. Concentrate your search on the Kansas City metro, particularly Overland Park and Lenexa, where the density of technology employers is highest. Filtering by H-1B sponsorship history on Migrate Mate narrows results to employers with a verified record of sponsoring this role type.
Are there any state-specific considerations for AI data engineers pursuing sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not impose state-level visa or work authorization requirements beyond federal standards, but prevailing wage compliance is particularly scrutinized in the Kansas City metro because DOL uses regional wage data for LCA certification. AI data engineer positions are typically classified under SOC codes for software developers or computer and information research scientists, so employers and candidates should confirm the correct classification is used, as it directly affects the prevailing wage level on the LCA.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai data engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
