Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for AI data engineers?
Principal Financial Group, John Deere, Collins Aerospace, and Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield have all appeared in H-1B disclosure data for technology and engineering roles. Iowa-based insurance and financial services firms are particularly active in building AI and data engineering teams, making them worth targeting specifically when searching for sponsored positions in the state.
Which visa types are most common for AI data engineer roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for AI data engineer positions in Iowa, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data science, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1B status through a multinational employer or on OPT with STEM extension are also well-positioned to pursue these roles without waiting for an H-1B cap cycle.
Which cities in Iowa have the most AI data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines is Iowa's primary hub for AI data engineer sponsorship jobs, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance, and healthcare technology employers. Cedar Rapids is the secondary market, with aerospace and manufacturing companies like Collins Aerospace running active engineering operations. Iowa City also sees occasional openings connected to the University of Iowa's research and affiliated health systems.
How to find ai data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored roles, and you can filter directly for AI data engineer positions in Iowa. This removes the guesswork of identifying which employers are open to sponsorship. Given Iowa's more concentrated employer base compared to coastal tech hubs, using a filtered, sponsorship-focused search on Migrate Mate is one of the more efficient approaches for this state.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for AI data engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa's prevailing wage determinations for AI data engineer roles are set by the Department of Labor based on the Des Moines or Cedar Rapids metropolitan areas, which typically reflect lower wage floors than coastal markets. University pipelines from Iowa State University and the University of Iowa supply OPT candidates who often transition into sponsored roles at local employers, making those institutions worth watching for networking and early-career entry points.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai data engineer jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
