Which companies sponsor visas for engineering project managers in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's largest industrial and technology employers are among the most active sponsors. Rockwell Automation and Johnson Controls in Milwaukee frequently hire engineering project managers and have established H-1B sponsorship programs. Oshkosh Corporation, Komatsu Mining, and Briggs and Stratton also appear in federal LCA disclosure data for engineering project management roles. Large healthcare systems and defense contractors operating in the state round out the sponsorship picture.
Which visa types are most common for engineering project manager roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for engineering project managers in Wisconsin, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN status under the engineer category. Those with extraordinary achievements in the field may explore the O-1A, though it requires substantial documentation of recognition.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most engineering project manager sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is Wisconsin's primary hub for engineering project manager sponsorship, driven by its concentration of manufacturing, energy, and industrial automation employers. Madison follows, with opportunities tied to university research infrastructure, state agencies, and a growing technology sector. Green Bay and Appleton also generate demand through paper, packaging, and food processing industries, where capital project management is an ongoing need.
How to find engineering project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Wisconsin employers actively hiring engineering project managers who require sponsorship. Rather than sorting through general job boards, you can search by role and state to surface positions where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. Migrate Mate also provides context on employer sponsorship history, which is particularly useful for engineering project management roles in Wisconsin's manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for engineering project managers?
Wisconsin's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are benchmarked to the Milwaukee-Waukesha metropolitan area for most positions, which can differ from rates in smaller markets like Eau Claire or Wausau. The state's strong university pipeline, particularly from the University of Wisconsin-Madison's engineering programs, means employers are familiar with OPT and STEM OPT extensions. Wisconsin's manufacturing concentration also means many sponsoring employers operate under government contracts, which can add compliance considerations to the hiring process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering project manager jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
