Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for investment roles?
Milwaukee-based firms lead Wisconsin's investment sponsorship activity. Baird, Northwestern Mutual, and Fiserv have sponsored international professionals for investment analyst and financial services positions. Regional banks including Associated Bank and BMO Harris (with significant Wisconsin operations) also hire for investment-related roles with sponsorship. Larger asset managers and insurance companies with Madison and Milwaukee headquarters tend to have established HR processes for H-1B visa filings.
What visa types are most commonly used for investment jobs in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for investment roles in Wisconsin, covering positions like financial analyst, portfolio analyst, and investment research associate that typically require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization are also actively hired. The O-1A is occasionally pursued for candidates with exceptional track records in asset management or quantitative research.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most investment visa sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is the clear hub, home to the largest concentration of financial services and investment firms in the state, including Baird and Northwestern Mutual's headquarters. Madison supports investment hiring through its university-adjacent financial sector and state government-related funds. Green Bay and Appleton have smaller but active regional banking and financial advisory markets that occasionally sponsor for investment analyst positions.
How to find investment visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters investment roles in Wisconsin by visa sponsorship history, so you're not wasting time applying to employers who don't sponsor. Search for investment analyst, portfolio associate, and financial research titles filtered to Milwaukee and Madison. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with documented H-1B filing activity, which is the most reliable signal that a Wisconsin firm will sponsor.
Are there state-specific considerations for investment roles and visa sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin does not have state-level visa programs, so sponsorship follows federal H-1B rules, including prevailing wage requirements set by the Department of Labor for each metro area. Milwaukee and Madison have different prevailing wage tiers, which affects what employers must pay sponsored workers. University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette University produce finance graduates who enter OPT, creating a pipeline that some Wisconsin investment firms are accustomed to sponsoring through to H-1B status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored investment jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
