Which companies sponsor visas for project directors in Wisconsin?
Several large Wisconsin employers have established H-1B sponsorship histories for senior project leadership roles. Epic Systems in Verona, Froedtert Health and Aurora Health Care in the Milwaukee area, Oshkosh Corporation, and Kohler Co. have all appeared in Department of Labor LCA filings for project management and director-level positions. Mid-size engineering and IT consulting firms operating across Madison and Milwaukee also sponsor project directors regularly.
Which visa types are most common for project director roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for project directors in Wisconsin, particularly in healthcare IT, engineering, and enterprise software sectors. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA-successor USMCA if the role falls under an eligible management or engineering category. Candidates with exceptional achievement may also explore the O-1A. Each pathway requires employer sponsorship and a qualifying specialty occupation determination.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most project director sponsorship jobs?
Madison and Milwaukee account for the largest share of project director sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Madison benefits from Epic Systems' headquarters, the University of Wisconsin system, and a growing tech sector. Milwaukee draws demand from healthcare networks, financial services firms, and industrial manufacturers. Green Bay and Appleton also have project director openings tied to manufacturing, logistics, and regional healthcare systems, though at lower volume than the two major metros.
How to find project director visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse project director roles in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can search by location and role type to surface openings at Wisconsin employers with active sponsorship programs. This is particularly useful for project directors targeting sectors like healthcare IT, manufacturing, and infrastructure where sponsorship patterns differ significantly by employer.
Are there state-specific considerations for project directors seeking visa sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin employers sponsoring H-1B project directors must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to the relevant metropolitan statistical area, with Milwaukee and Madison carrying different wage determinations than rural Wisconsin counties. Wisconsin's concentration of Epic Systems alumni and University of Wisconsin engineering graduates creates a competitive candidate pool, so international applicants benefit from emphasizing specialized domain expertise in healthcare IT, advanced manufacturing, or infrastructure project delivery when positioning themselves for sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project director jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
