Which companies in North Carolina sponsor visas for project directors?
Large employers with established immigration programs are the most consistent sponsors. In North Carolina, that includes Cisco and Lenovo in the Research Triangle, Duke Health, UNC Health, and Novant Health in healthcare, Bank of America and Wells Fargo in Charlotte's finance sector, and contract research organizations like ICON and PPD in the biotech space. These organizations have dedicated HR and legal teams equipped to handle H-1B petitions for senior roles.
Which visa types are most common for project director roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the primary visa category for project directors, given the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as engineering, business, or information technology. Candidates with extraordinary achievement may qualify for the O-1A. Those already on L-1A intracompany transferee status are also well positioned for project director roles, particularly within multinationals headquartered or with major operations in North Carolina.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most project director sponsorship jobs?
The Research Triangle, covering Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, accounts for the largest share of project director sponsorship activity, driven by technology, pharmaceutical, and higher education employers. Charlotte follows closely, with demand concentrated in financial services, construction, and energy infrastructure. Greensboro and Winston-Salem have a smaller but consistent presence, particularly in manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare project leadership.
How to find project director visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters project director roles by visa sponsorship status, so you are not sifting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. Search North Carolina on Migrate Mate to see current project director openings across the Research Triangle, Charlotte, and other active markets. The platform focuses on roles where employers have a documented history of sponsoring work visas.
Are there any state-specific considerations for project directors seeking visa sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle is one of the most active H-1B filing regions in the Southeast, partly because of the high concentration of technology, life sciences, and university-affiliated employers. Project director roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules when tied to complex technical or healthcare programs. The state's university system, including NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and Duke, also generates a pipeline of candidates and institutional employers familiar with international hiring processes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project director jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
