About the role
Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawai'i is seeking a mission-driven Program Services Director to lead all direct service program operations across the state. This is a senior leadership role responsible for program quality, staff development, and compliance with national BBBSA standards — directly advancing our mission of creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships for youth across O'ahu, Maui, and Kaua'i.
This position reports directly to the President/CEO and oversees the Community and School Directors.
Program leadership:
- Oversee and support programs on O'ahu, Maui, and Kaua'i to deliver services and achieve outcome goals
- Ensure all direct service functions meet BBBSA national standards and agency policies
- Develop and implement new programs and enhancements through innovative collaborations
- Build and maintain key partnerships with faith-based, educational, government, and corporate organizations
- Serve as community spokesperson to increase awareness and recruit adult volunteers
Supervision & staff development:
- Provide day-to-day leadership with an open-door policy; bridge local and statewide operations
- Handle personnel functions including training, evaluation, and performance management (subject to CEO approval)
- Monitor staff/client/volunteer ratios and supervise special projects
Administration & reporting:
- Prepare grant proposals and reports, and provide program information to the grants manager
- Manage the Program Services budget and ensure grant compliance
- Maintain accurate program statistics and present monthly data to the CEO
- Complete the Annual BBBSA Agency Assessment and maintain the Program Manual
- Prepare board summaries and contribute to grant proposals and reports
What we're looking for
- Master's degree in social work, public health, or a related human services field — or 5+ years of experience in a social service setting with youth and families
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience in case work management and/or program development
- Experience in supervision, planning, nonprofit administration, and organizational management
- Knowledge of research methods, statistical compilation, and outcome-based evaluation
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and writing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner across diverse populations and geographic areas
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management
- Valid Hawai'i driver's license, reliable transportation, and state-required auto insurance
Work environment
- Full-time, salaried (exempt) position
- Statewide scope — inter-island travel required
- Occasional evenings and weekends
