Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for software architects?
Epic Systems in Verona is one of the most active sponsors for software architects in Wisconsin, given its scale in healthcare IT. Fiserv in Milwaukee sponsors for fintech-focused architecture roles, and American Family Insurance and Northwestern Mutual also hire senior technical talent with sponsorship. Smaller firms in the Madison startup ecosystem occasionally sponsor, though less consistently than these larger employers.
Which visa types are most common for software architect roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software architects in Wisconsin, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1A or L-1B status through multinational employers can also transfer into Wisconsin-based architecture roles. O-1 petitions are less common but are pursued by candidates with documented technical distinctions.
How to find software architect visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find software architect roles in Wisconsin without sifting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can search by state and role to surface active openings at employers like Epic Systems, Fiserv, and others with sponsorship history. It's one of the more targeted ways to narrow down Wisconsin-specific opportunities.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most software architect sponsorship jobs?
Madison accounts for the largest share of software architect sponsorship activity in Wisconsin, driven by Epic Systems in nearby Verona and a growing university-linked tech sector around UW-Madison. Milwaukee is the second major hub, with financial services firms like Fiserv and Northwestern Mutual anchoring demand. Green Bay and Appleton have smaller but active technology employer bases, though sponsorship opportunities there are more limited.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for software architect visa sponsorship?
Wisconsin software architect roles must meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for the Madison or Milwaukee metropolitan areas, which are determined by the specific job zone and experience level assigned to the position. UW-Madison produces a steady pipeline of engineering graduates, meaning employers in the state have experience navigating sponsorship processes. Healthcare IT dominates the Madison market, so candidates with enterprise systems or integration architecture backgrounds tend to be most competitive.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software architect jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
