Frequently Asked Questions
What degree do I need for H-1B sponsorship as an advertising manager?
A bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, business administration, or related field typically qualifies. Some employers accept degrees in psychology or English if combined with relevant advertising experience. The job posting must specifically require a bachelor's degree to support the specialty occupation requirement.
Do advertising agencies sponsor work visas?
Large international agencies like Ogilvy, WPP, Publicis, and Omnicom regularly sponsor H-1B visas. Mid-size agencies occasionally sponsor for senior roles or specialized skills. Small boutique agencies rarely have the resources or legal infrastructure for visa sponsorship processes.
What's the approval rate for advertising manager H-1B petitions?
USCIS doesn't publish job-specific approval rates, but marketing and advertising roles generally have good approval odds when the position clearly requires a degree. Requests for Evidence are more common if the job description emphasizes general business skills rather than specialized advertising knowledge.
How to find Advertising Manager jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Advertising Manager jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international professionals with sponsoring employers. Focus on marketing agencies, tech companies, consumer brands, and multinational corporations that frequently hire advertising professionals. These employers typically offer H-1B, O-1 visa, or L-1 visas for experienced advertising managers with specialized skills in digital marketing, brand management, and campaign strategy.
Can I get sponsored for entry-level advertising positions?
Entry-level sponsorship is rare because employers prefer to hire experienced candidates for visa positions due to the cost and complexity. Most sponsored advertising managers have 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing, campaign management, or brand strategy roles.
Which industries sponsor advertising managers most often?
Technology companies, financial services, consumer goods brands, and pharmaceutical companies frequently sponsor in-house advertising managers. These industries have large marketing budgets, established legal teams, and understand the value of diverse marketing perspectives for global campaigns.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Advertising Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
