How to Get Visa Sponsorship as an Agile Project Manager
Frame the role as a specialty occupation
H-1B approval hinges on proving the position requires a specific bachelor's degree. Highlight that Agile Project Management demands formal education in computer science, information systems, or engineering, not just general business knowledge.
Target employers with a sponsorship history
Tech companies, management consultancies, and financial institutions file H-1B petitions for Agile Project Managers regularly. Prioritize employers who have sponsored this exact job title before, as they understand the process and face fewer internal hurdles.
Lead with your Agile certifications
PMP, CSM, or SAFe certifications signal professional credibility to both employers and USCIS. They strengthen the specialty occupation argument and make you a more competitive candidate when employers compare sponsorship costs against your qualifications.
Understand the cap-exempt employer advantage
Universities, nonprofit research organizations, and certain government-affiliated entities are exempt from the H-1B lottery. Agile roles exist at these institutions, and cap-exempt filing means you can start without waiting for the annual April selection cycle.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsors efficiently
Browse Agile Project Manager roles on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers. This saves time you'd otherwise spend researching whether individual companies are willing to sponsor before even applying.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Can an Agile Project Manager get H-1B visa sponsorship?
Yes, but the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Agile Project Manager positions tied to software delivery, engineering teams, or financial systems generally meet this standard. Roles framed as general management with no degree requirement in a specific discipline are harder to approve.
What degree do I need to qualify for sponsorship as an Agile Project Manager?
USCIS typically accepts degrees in computer science, information systems, engineering, or business administration with a technology or project management focus. A general business degree alone may face scrutiny if the employer can't demonstrate the role requires that specific field. Certifications like PMP or CSM support your case but don't replace the degree requirement.
How often do employers sponsor Agile Project Managers for visas?
Sponsorship is common in tech, consulting, and financial services. Companies managing large software or digital transformation programs regularly file H-1B petitions for this title. Employers in industries where Agile methodology is central to operations, such as software development or product management, are the most consistent sponsors.
Does an L-1 visa work for Agile Project Managers transferring from a foreign office?
Yes. If you're an Agile Project Manager at a multinational company and you've worked in a managerial, executive, or specialized knowledge capacity for at least one year abroad, your employer can file an L-1 petition to transfer you to a U.S. office. This bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and is often faster.
Where can I find Agile Project Manager jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Agile Project Manager roles filtered specifically for employers willing to sponsor work visas. Rather than applying broadly and asking about sponsorship later, you can identify visa-friendly employers upfront, which significantly improves your chances of moving through the hiring process without sponsorship becoming a late-stage obstacle.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Agile Project Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
