Job Summary/Basic Function
The Assistant Director of the Scholars Academy supports the academic success, social transition, persistence, and retention of Scholars Academy students from their first year throughout their matriculation at MTSU to graduation. The Assistant Director plays a key role in developing, coordinating, and implementing programs, activities, and initiatives focused on academic success, career readiness, leadership development, and student engagement. Additional responsibilities will include maintaining collaborative relationships with campus departments, faculty, staff, community organizations, and external partners to expand resources and opportunities available to Scholars Academy students. Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree required.
Required Related Experience
One (1) year of progressively responsible related work experience in education, admissions, advising, business administration, recruiting, and/or public administration required. Prior experience at a post-secondary institution or related experience required.
Required License/Registration/Certification
A valid driver's license is required.
Desirable Related Experience
Two (2) years of experience in any of the following areas: programming, mentoring, or advising in a student services-related area in a higher education setting; advising student groups and organizations strongly preferred. Bilingual preferred.
