Target employers with LCA filing history
Medical device and pharmaceutical companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications before are far more likely to sponsor again. Prioritize established names in diagnostics, surgical tools, and specialty pharma over early-stage startups with no sponsorship track record.
Confirm your degree field aligns with the role
H-1B specialty occupation requires a degree directly tied to the job. A degree in life sciences, biology, or business with a healthcare concentration typically qualifies. A general business degree alone may face additional USCIS scrutiny for this specific title.
Prepare a clear degree-to-role narrative
USCIS evaluates whether your specific degree supports a Healthcare Sales Specialist position. Be ready to explain how your coursework in anatomy, pharmacology, or commercial strategy directly applies to the technical sales responsibilities outlined in your offer letter.
Ask about sponsorship early, but frame it around fit
Raise visa sponsorship after demonstrating strong product knowledge and territory experience. Employers in medical device sales respond better when candidates lead with clinical understanding and sales performance, then address work authorization as a straightforward logistical step.
Browse Migrate Mate for verified sponsoring employers
Not every healthcare sales posting comes with explicit sponsorship details. Migrate Mate filters for employers with active sponsorship history, saving you time and reducing the risk of pursuing roles where work authorization support was never actually on the table.

Find Healthcare Sales Specialist JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Healthcare Sales Specialist role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
It can, but it depends on how the employer defines the role. USCIS requires that a bachelor's degree in a specific field is a standard minimum for the position. Roles tied to medical devices or pharmaceuticals with clear technical requirements are stronger H-1B candidates than general territory sales positions where any business degree satisfies the requirement.
What degree do I need for an employer to sponsor my visa as a Healthcare Sales Specialist?
Most sponsoring employers expect a degree in life sciences, nursing, biology, biochemistry, or business with a healthcare focus. A degree in kinesiology or pre-medicine can also work if the role involves clinical or surgical product lines. The key is showing a direct connection between your field of study and the technical demands of the specific sales territory.
Is the H-1B lottery a major obstacle for Healthcare Sales Specialists seeking sponsorship?
It is if you're relying solely on the H-1B. The annual cap and roughly 25% selection rate mean you may not be picked even with a strong petition. Canadian and Mexican nationals have a meaningful advantage here because TN status sidesteps the lottery entirely. If you're on OPT, your employer can file during the cap-subject window and use your remaining OPT as a bridge.
Do large medical device companies sponsor more reliably than smaller ones?
Generally yes. Companies like Johnson & Johnson MedTech, Stryker, Medtronic, and Abbott have dedicated HR and legal teams experienced in visa sponsorship and file LCAs regularly. Smaller regional distributors or contract sales organizations often lack the infrastructure to manage sponsorship and may decline even when they're interested in hiring you.
Where can I find Healthcare Sales Specialist jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct option. It surfaces roles specifically from employers with confirmed sponsorship history, so you're not filtering through hundreds of postings to find the ones that will actually support your visa. Searching broadly on general job boards wastes time on employers who list the title but have never filed a sponsorship petition.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Healthcare Sales Specialist jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
