How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Field Marketing Specialist
Target employers with active marketing budgets
Large consumer brands, SaaS companies, and regional retailers file the most Field Marketing Specialist LCAs. Employers with dedicated field teams are far more likely to have an established sponsorship process already in place.
Align your degree to the role explicitly
H-1B approval for marketing roles hinges on demonstrating specialty occupation status. A degree in marketing, communications, or business administration strengthens your petition. General degrees require stronger job description language tying the role to your field.
Emphasize measurable campaign outcomes
Field marketing is judged on pipeline contribution and event ROI. Quantified results like percentage increases in regional leads or demo conversions signal the analytical depth USCIS associates with specialty occupation work, not generalist marketing tasks.
Look for roles with regional or national scope
Field Marketing Specialists managing multi-state territory or national activations carry stronger specialty occupation arguments than purely local event staff roles. Broader scope signals the strategic complexity that supports a defensible H-1B petition.
Browse sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Not every Field Marketing Specialist posting comes with sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces only employers open to visa sponsorship, saving you the back-and-forth of asking about immigration support mid-application process.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Field Marketing Specialist role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
It can, but it requires careful job description framing. USCIS requires the position to normally require a specific bachelor's degree, not just any degree. Field Marketing Specialists who develop campaign strategy, manage budgets, and analyze performance data typically qualify. Roles centered on event setup or brand ambassador coordination face higher scrutiny and denial risk.
What degree do I need for a Field Marketing Specialist visa sponsorship?
A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a closely related field is the standard requirement. If your degree is in an unrelated field, relevant coursework and a job description emphasizing analytical or strategic functions can help. Some employers also accept three years of equivalent work experience per year of missing education under the H-1B equivalency rules.
How common is visa sponsorship for Field Marketing Specialist roles?
Sponsorship is less common here than in engineering or software roles, but it exists. Technology companies, national retail chains, and consumer packaged goods brands with established HR and legal infrastructure are the most likely sponsors. Startups and small regional employers rarely have the legal setup to support an H-1B petition for a marketing hire.
Can I find Field Marketing Specialist jobs that sponsor visas without cold-applying to hundreds of companies?
Yes. Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for employers open to visa sponsorship, so you're not wasting time applying to roles where sponsorship isn't available. For a role like Field Marketing Specialist where sponsorship is selective, filtering by employer willingness upfront significantly improves your application-to-interview conversion rate.
What happens to my H-1B if I transfer from an office role to a travel-heavy field territory?
A significant change in work location or job duties triggers an amended H-1B petition. Field marketing roles often involve working across multiple locations, which requires the employer to file an amended I-129 if you move outside the metropolitan statistical area listed in your original Labor Condition Application. Your employer's immigration attorney should assess whether an amendment is required before you start traveling.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Field Marketing Specialist jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
