Job Responsibilities:
Offer Strategy and Acquisition Test Design

- Partner with Finance and Pricing to ensure all offer designs are economically grounded, with clear unit economics, payback periods, and cannibalization risk assessments.
- Translate test results into actionable offer and strategy recommendations, building a learning system that compounds over time.
- Stay current on the competitive deposit offer landscape, identifying gaps and opportunities in Flagstar's positioning.
Acquisition Funnel Ownership
- Own the end-to-end deposit acquisition funnel, from channel-level demand generation through application completion and funded account.

- Partner with Brand and Creative teams to translate offer strategy and product positioning into compelling, conversion-optimized marketing assets across all channels.
- Ensure product marketing materials accurately reflect current offer terms, competitive positioning, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with the Manager, Product Modernization to ensure product marketing strategy reflects the current and future state product portfolio.
Performance Measurement and Cross-Functional Partnership

- Develop regular performance reporting for the Senior Director, Consumer Banking Product Growth and CMO, translating acquisition data into strategic recommendations.
- Partner with Analytics to ensure acquisition data is consolidated, accurate, and actionable.
- Develop and manage talent within the deposit acquisition marketing function.
- Collaborate with Finance, Pricing, Operations, Compliance, and Legal to ensure all acquisition programs are economically sound, operationally feasible, and regulatory-compliant.
- Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions.

Frame your degree as a direct match
USCIS requires a specific connection between your degree field and the role. A degree in marketing, business, or communications maps cleanly to Acquisition Marketing Manager. If your degree is in an adjacent field, document coursework that aligns with the role's core functions.
Target employers with a sponsorship track record
Companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for marketing roles before are far more likely to sponsor again. On Migrate Mate, every listed role is pre-screened for sponsorship willingness, so you're not wasting applications on employers who won't sponsor.
Lead with performance metrics in your application
Acquisition Marketing Managers live and die by CAC, ROAS, and conversion rate data. Employers need to justify sponsorship costs internally, and candidates who demonstrate measurable channel performance make that business case significantly easier for hiring managers to approve.
Understand the LCA wage requirement before negotiating
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for your location and job title. Knowing the prevailing wage for your metro area helps you negotiate from an informed position and confirms the employer is compliant.
Ask about cap-exempt employers if you miss the H-1B lottery
Universities, nonprofits, and certain research institutions are exempt from the H-1B annual cap, meaning they can file year-round. Marketing roles at these organizations are less common but do exist, particularly in higher education enrollment and research communications teams.
Document your specialization, not just your job title
Paid acquisition, SEO-led growth, and lifecycle marketing are distinct specializations. USCIS approves petitions based on the specific duties and required expertise, so your offer letter and petition should describe the technical and analytical depth of your role, not just the title.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Acquisition Marketing Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS considers a position a specialty occupation when it normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Acquisition Marketing Manager roles requiring expertise in paid media strategy, analytics, or growth marketing consistently meet this standard, particularly at mid-size and enterprise employers who can document degree requirements in the offer letter and job posting.
Which visa types are realistic for an Acquisition Marketing Manager seeking sponsorship?
The H-1B visa is the most common path, covering the majority of employer-sponsored marketing roles. Australian citizens should look at the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and far shorter wait times. Candidates with an exceptional track record in growth or performance marketing may qualify for the O-1A under the extraordinary ability category, though the evidentiary bar is high. Migrate Mate lists roles across all these sponsorship types.
What degree does my employer need to specify on the H-1B petition for this role?
The petition should specify a bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, business administration, communications, or a closely related field. The degree requirement must appear in the official job description. If your employer lists a generic business degree as sufficient for all roles company-wide, USCIS may push back on specialty occupation status, so the more field-specific the requirement, the stronger the petition.
How often do H-1B petitions for marketing roles get approved?
USCIS does not publish approval rates broken down by job title, but marketing roles filed under SOC codes for market research analysts and marketing specialists have historically seen approval rates in the range of 85 to 95 percent when the specialty occupation documentation is strong. Denial risk increases when the job description is vague or when the employer cannot demonstrate that a specific degree field is genuinely required for the position.
Can I switch from an F-1 OPT to a sponsored H-1B as an Acquisition Marketing Manager?
Yes, and this is one of the most common transitions for international marketing professionals. Your employer files the H-1B petition during the April registration window, and if selected, your status changes on October 1. If you have a STEM OPT extension, you get up to three lottery chances, which significantly improves your odds. Start the conversation with potential employers at least six months before your OPT expires so they have time to prepare the petition.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Acquisition Marketing Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
