Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Marketing And Events Coordinator
Frame your degree as a specialty occupation qualifier
USCIS requires your role to demand a specific bachelor's degree. Emphasize how your marketing or communications degree directly applies to campaign strategy, brand management, or event logistics, not just general coordination tasks.
Target employers with a sponsorship track record
Large hospitality groups, tech companies, and professional event firms sponsor this role more consistently than small agencies. Employers who have filed LCAs before understand the process and are far less likely to withdraw an offer mid-application.
Lead with measurable results in your application materials
Sponsoring employers take on legal and financial risk. Applications that quantify event attendance growth, campaign ROI, or budget managed demonstrate the specialized value that justifies a visa petition over hiring a local candidate.
Prepare a portfolio that demonstrates strategic, not just logistical, work
USCIS scrutinizes whether coordinator roles truly require a degree. A portfolio showing brand positioning decisions, marketing analytics, or multi-channel campaign management strengthens the specialty occupation argument significantly.
Clarify sponsorship intent before the final interview round
Many employers are open to sponsorship but haven't considered it. Raising it after an offer creates friction. Asking during late-stage interviews, once genuine interest is established, gives both sides time to assess feasibility calmly.

Find Marketing And Events Coordinator JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Can a Marketing and Events Coordinator role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, but it requires careful documentation. USCIS must classify the role as a specialty occupation, meaning it normally requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field like marketing, communications, or event management. Generic coordinator roles where any degree suffices are harder to sponsor. The stronger the connection between your degree and the actual duties, the better the petition holds up under scrutiny.
Which visa types are most realistic for international Marketing and Events Coordinators?
H-1B is the most common path, though the annual lottery makes timing uncertain. O-1A is an option if you have documented recognition, awards, press coverage, or leadership in major industry events. Australians may qualify for the E-3, which has no lottery and a faster timeline. TN status covers Canadians and Mexicans in qualifying management or professional roles. Your best path depends on nationality and career stage.
What degree do employers typically require for visa sponsorship in this role?
Most sponsoring employers require a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, hospitality management, or business. Degrees in unrelated fields can work if you have substantial coursework or experience that maps directly to the role's duties. A general arts degree with no clear connection to marketing is harder to defend in an H-1B petition, though not automatically disqualifying depending on how the role is structured.
How do I find employers who will actually sponsor a Marketing and Events Coordinator?
Migrate Mate is the best starting point, it filters sponsorship-willing employers specifically, so you're not wasting applications on companies that won't consider visa candidates. Beyond that, large hospitality brands, tech companies with in-house event teams, and corporate professional services firms sponsor this role most reliably. Smaller agencies and nonprofits rarely have the legal infrastructure to manage a petition efficiently.
What are the biggest reasons H-1B petitions get denied for this job title?
The most common denial reason is failure to establish specialty occupation, USCIS may argue the role doesn't require a specific degree. This happens when job descriptions use vague language like 'bachelor's preferred' or list duties that any generalist could perform. Denials also occur when the offered wage doesn't meet the prevailing wage level on the Labor Condition Application. A detailed, degree-specific job description and an experienced immigration attorney significantly reduce these risks.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Marketing And Events Coordinator jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
