Target companies with a documented H-1B history
Large employers in tech, consulting, and financial services file H-1B petitions for Sales Strategy Managers regularly. Firms like Salesforce, McKinsey, and Amazon have consistent sponsorship track records for strategy and commercial operations roles.
Frame your experience around revenue impact
Sponsoring employers want evidence that your strategic work drives measurable business outcomes. Quantify pipeline growth, market expansion wins, or go-to-market improvements you led. Concrete numbers make your petition harder to deny and your profile harder to ignore.
Confirm the role qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires that a bachelor's degree in a specific field is the industry standard for the position. Sales Strategy Manager typically qualifies, but ensure your offer letter specifies duties requiring business, economics, or marketing expertise rather than general sales management.
Get your employer to file as early as possible
H-1B cap-subject petitions open April 1 for an October 1 start date. Missing the filing window means waiting a full year. If you're on OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility to bridge any gap between your current status and H-1B approval.
Consider cap-exempt employers if the lottery is a concern
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and certain government entities are exempt from the H-1B annual cap. Some of these organizations hire Sales Strategy professionals for internal commercial or partnerships functions, giving you a direct path without lottery risk.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsors before applying broadly
Applying to companies with no sponsorship history wastes time you may not have. Migrate Mate filters Sales Strategy Manager openings by employers who have actively sponsored work visas, so you can focus your applications where sponsorship is actually on the table.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which visa types support Sales Strategy Manager roles?
The H-1B visa is the most common path for Sales Strategy Managers since the role meets the specialty occupation standard under business or economics. Candidates with an MBA and cross-border responsibilities may also qualify for the L-1A (intracompany transferee) or, in some cases, the O-1A for those with exceptional achievement in the field.
Do I need an MBA to get H-1B sponsorship for this role?
An MBA is not required, but it strengthens both your petition and your candidacy. USCIS requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a field directly related to the position. A bachelor's in business, economics, finance, or marketing satisfies the specialty occupation requirement. An MBA becomes more relevant for senior-level strategy roles where employers explicitly list it as a requirement.
How likely is it that a Sales Strategy Manager role gets H-1B approved?
Approval rates for business strategy roles are generally solid when the petition is well-documented. The main risk is a Request for Evidence challenging whether the position truly requires a specific bachelor's degree rather than a generalized business background. Employers with experienced immigration counsel and clear job duty descriptions see significantly fewer RFEs for these roles.
What should I look for in a job posting to know sponsorship is real?
Look for explicit language like 'visa sponsorship available' or 'we will sponsor H-1B.' Beyond that, check whether the company has a history of H-1B filings through public DOL disclosure data. Roles posted with detailed degree and field requirements are stronger indicators of genuine sponsorship intent. Migrate Mate surfaces listings from employers with verified sponsorship histories, which removes much of the guesswork.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Sales Strategy Manager role mid-year?
Yes. H-1B portability lets you start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed, without waiting for approval, provided you've been in valid H-1B status for at least 180 days. The new role must still qualify as a specialty occupation. This makes mid-year transitions between companies feasible, though your new employer's immigration team should file promptly.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Sales Strategy Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
