Position Summary
The Life Enrichment & Wellness Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for patients by planning, preparing, and leading engaging therapeutic, wellness, and restorative activities. This position supports patients across cognitive and physical levels, with a strong emphasis on dementia care, sensory-based programming, mobility/exercise activities, and meaningful engagement, including support with assisted dining when needed.
Hours: M-F
Key Responsibilities
Life Enrichment, Wellness & Restorative Programming
- Plan, prepare, and lead group and individual Life Enrichment activities that support physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
- Lead exercise, mobility, movement, and restorative-style activities appropriate to patient abilities.
- Adapt activities for patients with dementia, cognitive impairment, and hospice-level care using sensory-based approaches.
- Provide individualized 1:1 engagement for patients unable to participate in group activities.
Dementia-Focused Engagement
- Work confidently with patients experiencing dementia and cognitive decline.
- Utilize calming and purposeful sensory activities.
- Observe and document patient responses and adjust interventions as needed.
Dining & Daily Support
- Assist with assisted dining and mealtime engagement.
- Promote dignity, independence, and socialization during meals.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience or comfort working with elderly patients, including dementia care.
- Creative, energetic, organized, and flexible.
- Ability to lead groups and adapt activities as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 60–70 pounds occasionally.
- Stand/walk 2–5 hours per day.
- Move freely throughout the center.
